A FedEx Field Sign Snyder Can't Ban

Daniel Snyder wants to ban signs at FedEx Field? Then let's turn the stadium itself into a sign he can't ban.

Everyone sitting in the designated upper-level sections for the Washington vs Denver game (Nov. 15th at FedEx field) can be part of a giant "FIRE SNYDER" sign just by wearing the color designated for their seat. Here are the participating sections:

  • 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406
  • 422, 423, 424, 425, 427, 428, 429, 430, 431, 432
  • 450, 451, 452, 453

The  photo below gives you an idea of the scale and appearance of the signs (click to view). There will be TWO of these signs, one on each side of the stadium.image

To participate just do the following:

  1. Find the seating chart for your section in the table below.
  2. Find your exact seats on the chart.
  3. Wear the color designated for your seat on game day.

NOTE: We're looking for 2-3 people per section who can help spread the word on game day.

UPDATE: Background color changed from gold to white thanks to suggestions from Mr. Irrelevant and twoeightnine.

UPDATE 2: Major change to the seating charts! The sign colors have been inverted.

I decided to make this change after finding a high-resolution shot of the upper sections from the October 26th Monday Night game and hearing about spotty attendance from several folks. The seats are already red--no sense in fighting the stadium itself to make this work.

  1. Wouldn't it make sense to do white instead of yellow? Most people don't have yellow shirts but they have white or a white Skins jersey. Plus white Ts are cheap and could be passed out.

  2. I think any light color would work fine for the background (gold/yellow/white). And any shade of red for the letters. As long as you have a contrast.

    ReplyDelete
  3. What a great idea!!! I hope it works - need to pass the word! I want to do it; but alas have not tickets1 Good luck!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. So who would be the one to actually fire Snyder?

    ReplyDelete
  5. the fans will fire him - DRIVE HIM OUT!

damage the ego and stop going to the games!

    ReplyDelete
  6. there won't be enough people in the stands to make a sign.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sure there will! If I lived near DC I'd go just to be part of the sign! Snyder already has the seat money (from season tickets) so staying away doesn't hurt him. It just hurts people reselling the seats.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It would be really funny if the lower levels were empty and the upper decks packed to make the sign!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Another idea I heard was for everyone at the next home game vs. Denver to get up and go out to the concessions area at 6 minutes into the 2nd quarter and stay out there until close to half time(it would be really packed but could be done). It's too early in the game for people to be leaving so it would be obvious and would certainly make a statement on nat'l TV and get lots of coverage. Wouldn't it be amazing to hear the TV announcers talk about that one?

  10. Won't work for two reasons:

All those people who work at McDonalds don't have computers and high speed Internet - can't get the word out.

New policy at FedEx field. All fans must wear authorized burgundy and gold merchandise - any number but 56.

  11. My seats are on section 421, otherwise I would absolutely participate in this!

    ReplyDelete
  12. All out boycot on concessions and Redskins licensed gear. The tickets have been paid for, not going to the games doesn't make a different. Hit him where he cares, his bottom line. The tickets only get you into the stadium, the money is made with concessions, so stop using them! Also, take the subway, don't pay for the parking either, an empty parking lot and full stadium hurts him and not the players.

  13. I am in the lower bowl and will go up there to help this out...

    ReplyDelete
  14. To the person in the lower bowl: That would be awesome. Hey, maybe the person in section 421 who wants to participate could switch sections or tell people in other sections about it!

    ReplyDelete
  15. No one is going to be sitting up there. At least not enough people to make that happen.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Everyone should start checking Stub Hub and Amazon for available seats. I bet they're cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm in 431 and, as my designated color, will wear my white Sellers jersey to the Denver game. Fire The danny (and Vinny)!

    ReplyDelete
  18. @431: Awesome! You could take a copy of the 431 chart and pass it around too!

    ReplyDelete
  19. You all should keep doing this for the rest of the home games... by the last game - the message will be so loud and clear!

    ReplyDelete
  20. another idea, seeing as how this is really tough to coordinate. assign someone to each section, have them bring construction paper in the colors needed for the section. then you just hand them out to the right seats. that way you are relying on 15 people, not 15000 people. everyone holds up their paper, message delievered

    ReplyDelete
  21. I myself am starting a website where I will be interviewing fans in the parking lots and posting those interviews on said website. I will not allow Snyder to take away our rights to free speech.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I like the idea of "section captains" for handing out copies of the charts, but I don't know if they'd be able to sneak 15,000 large sheets of construction paper into the stadium! That would be a stack something like 10 feet high and weighing over 1,200 pounds!

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is great. Very upset my section is the space between the words. Need to get every tv station and every radio station and every newspaper to get the word out.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I heard that Snyder was going to hire Tom Cruise as GM. In that case, the new Redskins fight song would start: "Just Take Those Old Players Off The Shelf...", and the new Redskins Cheerleaders uniforms would be white Jockey briefs.
Actually, I got those jokes from http://snyderhasruinedtheredskins.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  25. Suggestion. Try this aganist Denver but who ever did this get a group of supporters to carry cards into the game explaining what is going on and the web address and hand them out at the sections that need to participate and make sure it really works aganist the Saints.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Start a facebook group. It would probably spread the word faster.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @David: Great suggestions. Did you see this post on things people can do to help out at the game?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm in 419 and want to participate. :(

    ReplyDelete
  29. the only problem is are enough people going to be sitting up there for this to work???? i really hope so

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ok Fire the owner....The fans fired an owner once in Baltimore...Problem was he took the team with him...Fans said he couldnt do it ---but----he did. Funny thing is at the end of the year when they bring a whole new staff in the fans will get all excited again, but remember. The same guys who hired the last staff will be making this selection...But listen they are our team good our bad WE ARE REDSKINS FANS!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. The owner isn't going to fire himself. Win or lose his gigantic stacks of cash keep him warm at night. How about asking for something a little more feasible and useful like "Fire Vinny"?

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Rick: Duh. You're sort of missing the point. Snyder is an egomaniac obsessed with maintaining the illusion of control at all times. The sign publicly and humiliatingly punctures his illusion in a way that's impossible to ascribe to media enemies or a handful of fan malcontents.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Anon: I understand /why/ the action is taking place; I'm just saying the the message itself doesn't make sense. If you just want to show that "it can be done and he can't stop it" you may as well have it say "WE WANT CAKE" for all the good it'll do. I applaud the effort and hope that it can be pulled off..I'd just advise doing it with a more useful message.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm the creator of this blog. For what it's worth I'll write a post in the next day or so explaining why I chose "FIRE SNYDER".

As for whether it will do any good--well I happen to think the "good" is in the fun of the stunt itself. Especially in a year when we can't take much pleasure in watching the the actual games.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Daniel snyder is the worst thing to ever happen to the Washington redskins. I like many of you hope he dies, soon. I think the upperdeck sign is a wonderful idea. DO NOT walk out on the players, he already has the money.. A mass walkout is disrespectful to the players (who in a far worse spot than any of the fans) put their bodies in harms way week in and week out. You think we hate snyder? Imagine finding out the next several years of your career are going to be spent playing for the most childish, egotistical, inept owner in the league. Snyders ownership style is something between bush's rangers and al davis' raiders (post 1990)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Redskins fan could never get orginzed enough to pull this stunt off.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Who's the retard who came up with this one?

Snyder is the owner of the Redskins, and therefore can't be fired. Hope I didn't burst anyone's bubble here.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @CT You're an idiot. It's not to actually fire Snyder, obviously the fans can't. It's to get the message out in a very public manner to state how we feel.

So before you make another unintelligent comment, use your 'retarded' brain to think a little next time before you type.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Just get the whole stadium to chant SNYDER SUCKS everytime the Skins F up! This will be a lot easier to pull off IMO.

SNYDER SUCKS, SNYDER SUCKS,SNYDER SUCKS, SNYDER SUCKS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. and you call yourself fans ? remember the 7 years before he bought the team, we were just as bad.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think there will be plenty of Denver fans there. Denver is a team worth watching.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I don't understand why people are jumping on those who think a "Fire Snyder" sign is misdirected angst. I understand this it is a "figurative" message not literal, but others on this board have a point. We as Skins fans shouldnt be wishing for pipe dreams such as Snyder's Death or him selling the team. It makes a lot more sense to hope for something realistic, like this man firing Cerrato and actually bringing in a real GM and Coach. He took a step back into the shadows when Gibbs came back, and he will likely be forced to do it again when a GM is in place. I'd rather let Snyder know how dissatisfied we are with the GM/Front office structure, than some ambiguous message of hatred for the owner.

  43. Brilliant idea!
Next time we could do "U Suck." Shorter.
Am posting this on Facebook, etc.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  44. To the person who suggested going to the concession stands with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING AT THE CONCESSION STANDS. HIT THE DANNY WHERE IT HURTS MOST - HIS WALLET, THE ONLY THING DEARER TO HIM THAN "HIS" REDSKINS.

    ReplyDelete
  45. in order to be effective this needs to be posted someplace like the Washington Post!

    ReplyDelete
  46. It has been posted at the WP! And many many other places! Almost 30,000 visitors in one week!

    ReplyDelete
  47. If you go to the games, don't buy the food or the Redskin merchandise. By all means, don't renew your season tickets.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Great idea and I would be all over it if I were in those sections -- BUT!! I am already confused... are the letters in red or white? It's totally possible to pull off IF the directions are clear for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The letters are now WHITE! See UPDATE 2 at the end of this post for the reasons. They won't change again.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think the best way to pull this off might be to use twitter - not a huge fan of it myself but at least that way on game day people in those sections could inform those sitting elsewhere if there are empty seats needing to be filled in, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Good idea! Twitter link added...

    http://twitter.com/firesnydersign

    ReplyDelete
  52. the only problem with this is Dan Snyder is the owner, he can't be fired. and he isn't gonna quit. i still like the idea but next time you should make it fire vinny

    ReplyDelete
  53. I work for the Skins on gamedays, and would be proud of any group of fans that pulls the FIRE SNYDER visual sign off.

It is a damn shame that the ownership /management of the team has succeeded in alienating the life blood of the team - the die hard (working too damn hard) FANS !!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. the problem is, Snyder will do nothing nor care. he's a douche plain and simple. all he wants is money. you really want to get at him? don't go. the team is nothing but a bunch of whiny overpaid brats who can't play anyways. chances are Snyder is pulling a "Major League" and making it so he can sell the team to another city make off with massive amounts of money and screw D.C.

    ReplyDelete
  55. this is the dumbest thing i have ever read

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey this could be done at Orioles games too - F I R E A N G E L O S. What a great concept. Thank you fellow Redskins Fans. An Orioles Fan.
